my PATH as a psychotherapist…
In 1989, I began working in Philadelphia with Vietnam veterans suffering from PTSD.
Gradually, as I took on more complex cases of traumatic stress and Dissociative Disorder, I soon discovered that the long-established methods were not resolving trauma to the extent that I intuitively felt was possible. I became aware of a new method developed for trauma called Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and completed the training for this revolutionary method.
Over the years I have developed and deepened this incredibly effective tool into a model of my own. It includes Gestalt, Relational, and Attachment Trauma Therapies while emphasising awareness of the relationship that each person has with themselves and their body.
incorporating shamanic healing practices…
In 1997, I encountered the world of shamanic healing practices with a visit to an energy healer. I had been feeling that something was missing from my spiritual life.
I was working through the heartache of a divorce along with other losses in my life. I became a student of Alberto Villoldo at The Four Winds Society where I eventually became a full mesa (wisdom) carrier in the Andean Inka mystical tradition. I continued my studies while transforming and deepening my knowledge and my mesa with Jose Luis Herrera, whose authentic cosmology and healing classes taught me the practices of the healers of the Q'ero medicine people. I have been initiated in the high mountains of Peru and have studied and traveled with the Q’ero wisdom keepers.
Currently, I live in the Netherlands, working with clients from all over the world both in-person and virtually. I offer group training in shamanic knowledge, rites and rituals, as well as energy healings. My psychotherapy practice consists of individual and couples psychotherapy sessions and is ‘waiting list only’ at this time.
